Eyes wide opened,
Burning; Dry.
Eyes left opened,
Please don’t cry.
I stay awake for you.
I pray all night for you.
Please don’t give up,
I wonder what you do.
Eyes burning; Hot,
Pain so ever lasting.
Eyes are burning badly,
Colors too contrasting.
I wonder how you are,
I’m scared you’ll go too far.
Please don’t let it win,
You don’t need another scar.
Eyes close, now, lightly.
Afraid to close them tight.
Eyes close, now, slowly.
I’m afraid for you tonight.
I can’t bear the thought,
Of what you think you’re not.
Please don’t buy the lies,
These battles must be fought.
Eyes now shut in fear,
Twitching ever so.
Eyes now shut in rest,
I pray that you let go.
Well done, a though provoking piece. Keep up the good work Kx

well put,
need no another scar..
You can feel the love for the other person and their desperation to help them through whatever it is they are going through in this piece. Lovely, just lovely.
awards for you.
support us by linking in 1 to 3 poems to our poetry potluck…
not necessarily related to the theme, any old poems would work.
How do I link poems?

Powerful. You brought tears to my eyes. Well written!
The pain here was intensely felt for a loved one whose choice of a path can destroy much more than themselves. So well done…
Thanks for dropping the link in my post…

woww.. loved the poem…
esp the repetition of closing eyes adds a certain rhythm to it 😀
Im here from Jingle’s rally..
you can read my poem at
I find comfort in your writing in knowing I’m not alone but sadness in the fact that another human being has to go through a similar experience. You write so descriptively and your emotion says it all. Beautiful piece Ms Elizibeth.
the repetitions in between makes the read even more lovely.. thought provoking piece!

Wow, you really got me there. Right now Im feeling sad and anxious!!! “Please don’t cry.
I stay awake for you.
I pray all night for you.
Please don’t give up,
I wonder what you do”
Simply amazing how you can take us there and feel both pains.
i love the way you wrote this piece! in fact, i felt how panic built up as you describe someone’s pain. you wish to help but there’s nothing else you can do.
thanks for the nice comment you left on my post. 🙂
The way you expressed is awesome.. Eyes shut in fear.. OMG.. This is too good..

Loved the rhyme scheme; this poem has an amazing rhythm. Wonderful work.
🙂
This is my preferred rhyming scheme, as you would probably observe in my own poems.

My entry for week 30
Hey, let me tell you one truth. I really wanted my friends to tell me that, instead of offering me words of sympathy that only increased my feeling of self-pity. A million Thanks to you for writing this piece.
