Take a deep breath.
Let the air fill up your lungs.
Breathe slowly in.
Now push the air back out.
Flowing steadily back and forth.
Between your lungs and the world.
Pull more air inside.
Enough to release a shout.

Take a deep breath.
Feel the air stop before your lungs.
Pull in what air you can.
Feel your lungs closing tight.
Gasp for air as though you need it.
As if without it you can not live.
Suck in the air needed.
Sometimes for air you must fight.

Feel your heart beat quicken.
Smell the dreaded aroma of your cause.
Gasp for poisoned air to help you.
Know that the air around you can not fill.
The poisoned scent invades more.
Tightening more and more.
Your lungs cling to themselves.
Awaiting the pain and fear to trill.

Take a deep breath.
Feel the air slowly seep in.
Breathe slowly not to tense.
Tensing only closes up what has been.
Breathe in the air you missed.
Slowly regaining your composure.
Pay close attention to each breath.
You never know when breath could cease again.
